I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, and am an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. I currently am based in Tacoma, WA and provide program management for the Native Youth Leadership Alliance.
I am also continuing my education through community classes focusing on Northwest Native plants and foods. I serve on the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) Youth Committee, working to enhance the leadership capacity of young Natives across ATNI member tribes.
I graduated in 2008 from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in American Indian Studies. Since graduating I have had the opportunity to work with several non-profits, student organizations, my tribe, and with our youth. All these experiences have provided me with skills and dreams to build upon and inspired to continually grow as a young leader.
My vision for my community is health. Healthy bodies, minds, spirits and healthy environment. Our health is true wealth. I am passionate about our connection to our Native foods and environment.
I am honored to have this opportunity to be a contributing part of the NYLA family and to have this as a support system and community to help me in the visions and goals I have for my communities.
As a 2011 NYLA fellow, I have gained foundational skills, and much support to help develop myself as a leader. I look forward to the inevitable challenges, the people, networks, and communities I will meet along the path towards positive change.
