Johnny Buck, Wanapum/Yakama is a father, community Johnny Buck, Wanapum/Yakama is a father, community leader, organizer, traditional food gatherer and Tribal college student from Priest Rapids Dam, Washington. He is currently in the Native Environmental Science Bachelor’s Program at Northwest Indian College. He is also a Co- Founder of the Native Youth Leadership Alliance, which invests in young Native American leaders to spark culturally based community change.
In addition, Johnny is a chair of the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians (ATNI) Youth Committee, an organization that was created to protect tribal culture, rights, and sovereignty by unifying tribes and advocating for the wellbeing of Native Peoples. He is currently supporting the efforts of empowering Youth in the ATNI space and strategically planning the structure of a leadership pipeline. Johnny’s community work includes the development of a successful Native language program, mentoring youth in fishing and hunting and revitalizing traditional cultural arts.
