for their communities

The Native Youth Leadership Alliance is a collective of indigenous youth leaders and elder supporters creating culturally-based community change in Tribal communities.  NYLA members value the power of higher education as an important resource in modern leadership and are predominantly students or graduates of Tribal Colleges.

NYLA was founded in 2009 by a committed group of Tribal College students driven to create a Native-led organization that would be fertile ground to strengthen indigenous youth voices and solutions towards holistic community wellness.

Over these past 8 years, NYLA has grown and evolved as a safe space and vibrant hub of Native youth innovation, creativity and healing for visionary young leaders of our time.

NYLA is rooted in indigenous principles and cultural practices of leadership and leadership development.

We are proud to announce the launch of a new leadership initiative, a one-year NYLA Leadership Society that will offer a core group of young leaders intensive support with reflection, strategic planning and resourcefulness for their higher education plans and their leadership and community activism.
