(Mariana Harvey) Dandelion Seed Conference

Last October, people gathered to share and learn about the wondrous world of plant people by way of, the Dandelion Seed Conference, in Olympia, WA. The event was filled with many seasoned experts sharing a wide array of knowledge. The range of workshops varied from: how to best respect plants and properly harvest to why it is important to honor and acknowledge our ancestors when working with plants. And of course there were lots of hands on, get outside in the woods sharing too!

In my best effort to share the wealth of wisdom received I’d like to offer some highlights, quotes, and tidbits of the conference with you:

MAGIC IN MEDICINE, WITH SEAN DONAHUE

“In our center, we transform what’s happening around us.”

“The medicine we bring is the medicine inside of us; be that bright beautiful presence in the room.”

On ‘Old Man’s Beard’ (Usnea, Lichen family): It grows on the tree where the tree needs medicine, the places where there are wounds. The wound is where the healing comes. “By bringing medicine and healing to my wound, it ripples out and does that for others.”

WORKING WITH STRESS AND TRAUMA FOR YOUR CLIENTS AND SELF WITH SARA HOLMES

P1030368

“We’re whole, perfect human beings; we just have to work to continually uncover things to help us to live whole, tap into our whole self.”

On personal negativity: Ask yourself, “Would you say that to a baby, a tree, or an elder… ? …then don’t say it to yourself.”

Our digestive system receives the nutrients for the body. When working with one self or your client with digestive complaints, look at digestion system: how well does this person receive things in their life?

Our immune system is our body’s physical way of drawing boundaries. When working with one self or client that has immune deficiency: ask how is this person’s ability at drawing boundaries in their own life?

“If you’re trying to work through hard stuff; don’t use hardness to get through it.”

“We’re impacted by the energy surrounding us; whether it impacts your center is up to you.”

“Don’t blame people for getting sick.”

“Be gentle, compassionate and curious with yourself. And if you’re hard on yourself, don’t look for more things to find wrong.”

A CIRCLE OUTSIDE THE MASTER’S HOUSE. SOCIAL JUSTICE AND THE SPIRIT WORLD, WITH ANA SPAHAN, GACHING GONG AND DANETTE DJUBINVILLE

“I am mixed race, I am one person.”

“Blood is the level we can all connect on.”

“If we don’t sit with the difficult the knowledge and history we won’t hear the plants sing.”

WORKING WITH THE INVISIBLE WORLD OF PLANTS WITH JUNE O’BRIEN AND JOYCE NETISHEN

“Gratitude is an attitude; it’s an orientation to our hearts.”

“Plants have relationships and entanglements.”

“If you’re prayed up and loved up; you can mitigate it.”

“When I go out in Nature because of the way I show up; Nature is awake to me.”
